The Kwahadi Kiva in Amarillo, Texas has become a famous outpost stop for Scouting and Church youth groups as they travel along the way to Philmont Scout Ranch and other mountain camps!

Located on the High Plains of Texas, the Kiva is 238 miles from Philmont and convenient to numerous mountain camps in New Mexico and Colorado.  Over 12,000 Scouts and Church youth have stayed at the Kiva since it opened on
June 12, 2004!  The Kiva is a fun and uplifting place to overnight your group with a performance, museum visit, meals, hot showers, and lodging. You can also just stop by on your journey for a travel break, meal, rejuvenation, a museum tour, and/or a Kwahadi performance!

The Kiva is home to the Kwahadi Dancers, Venture Crew 9, BSA.  Over 1600 Scouts have performed as Kwahadis since 1944.  They have performed over 4000 shows in 48 states and overseas!  Kwahadi performances are scheduled at the Kiva on most Friday and Saturday nights in the summer or on other nights when we have sufficient visitors.  You can also see the Kwahadis on many Mondays at the Philmont Training Center at 7:00 pm, and at regular ceremonials at the Kiva in the fall and winter.  See information and performance schedule below!

For lodging reservations for your group, call the Kiva at 806-335-3175.
Lodging available year-round.

You are always welcome at the Kwahadi Kiva!  Enjoy the adobe ambiance indoors in the Plaza, Kiva, Sante Fe Room, and Taos Room or under the stars on the Patio.  Enjoy a relaxing walk along the Eagle Trail around the Kiva, play on the west lawn, or enjoy volleyball on the sand court.

The air conditioned Kiva has 9 showers and large spaces.  Ladies have their own shower area.  Bring your own air mattresses, cots, and bedding.  For fly-in groups, the Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport is nearby and charter bus or van rental service for the rest of your trip is available locally.
