the Kiva is 238 miles from Philmont and convenient to numerous mountain camps.
Over 6000 Scouts have stayed at the Kiva since it opened on June 12, 2004!
The Kiva can be a fun and uplifting event for your Scouts with a performance,
meals, and lodging provided for your group, or you can just stop by on your
journey for a travel break, museum tour, and/or a Kwahadi performance!

You are always welcome at the Kwahadi Kiva!
The air-conditioned Kiva has 9 showers. Enjoy the adobe ambience of the
Plaza, Kiva, Santa Fe Room, Taos Room, and Patio. Walk the Eagle Trail
around the Kiva through the landscaping, play on the west lawn, or enjoy
volleyball on the sand court. Ladies have their own shower area.
Bring your own air mattresses, cots, and bedding. For fly-in groups, the
Amarillo International Airport is nearby.

The
Kiva is home to the Kwahadi Indian Dancers, Venture Crew 9, BSA. Over
1800 Scouts have performed as Kwahadis since 1944 in over 4000 performances in
46 states and overseas. We just celebrated our 281st Eagle Scout and our
first Venture Ranger Award and our first Girl Scout Gold Award! Kwahadi
performances are scheduled on most Friday and Saturday nights in the summer or
on other nights when we have sufficient visitors. You can also see
the Kwahadis on many Monday nights at the
Philmont
Training Center at 7:00 PM! Over 100 Native American artists and
artisans are represented in the Kiva Trading Post. Fine art, jewelry,
Katchina dolls, pottery, rugs, and craft supplies,
as well as souvenir patches, and Indian goods available.

The Kwahadi Northeast Show Tour 2008 will
include a performance on July 31 for hundreds of Scouts from around the world
at the Michigan International Scout Camp, eastward to
NewEngland, southward to
Washington,
then home along the I-40 corridor. They will entertain at the Chickasaw
Council Scout Base in October 2008 for 10,000 Scouts, at the
Windjam in England for 8000 Scouts in 2009, and
for 30,000 Scouts at the 100th Anniversary of Scouting Jamboral in Utah in
2010. The Kwahadis perform for fundraisers for councils, OA, district,
and units coast to coast.

* You can eat well at the Kiva for about the same cost as taking everyone to
McDonalds. All meals are served by professional catering service and are
offered to simplify travel and logistics for our friends. Meals are
available on show days or on other dates with sufficient notice.
* Dinner and breakfast reservations are required to ensure adequate
food. Meals must be secured by credit card or advance payment.
* Royce's breakfast (of Home Plate Diner) is becoming a legend!!
* Meals refunded in full if cancelled by noon on day of arrival.
* Custom meals available for groups or combined groups of 25 or more.
Feed your
Scouts a hardy breakfast at the Kiva at 7 AM (or earlier), depart Kiva by 8
AM, drive 238 miles to Philmont, gain an hour at the state line, and check
into Philmont by 11:30 AM MST. (Loose an hour coming back!!)

The
Kwahadi
Kiva Indian Museum is located on the north side of I-40 between
Lakeside Drive
and
Tiltrotor
Drive (airport). Exit I-40 on the east side of Amarillo at
Tiltrotor
Drive (EXIT #76), and then proceed WEST on the I-40 frontage road on the north
side of I-40 for one-half mile. The Kiva is open June – August, Noon – 5:00
PM Thursday through Saturday and on Sunday 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Noon ‘til
10 PM on show dates. For other times, call for an appointment.
